Day 31 PBHOT62
This challenge is all about fitting reading into your life. So in my case, I was waiting for my new reading chair to dry so I figured I might as well do some reading. THE BOOK OF MISTAKES by Corinna Luyken.
Day 30 PBHOT62
Grass time for my rabbits equals #amreading time for me. UNDER A PRAIRIE SKY by Anne Laurel Carter, art by Alan and Lea Daniel. Followed by BUNNIES!!! by Kevan Atteberry.
Day 29 PBHOT62
I tried playing it safe by reading beside the gate instead of on it, but then these little ankle biters showed up.
#amreading GOBLIN HOOD by Sue Fliess, art by Piper Thibodeau. FROM HERE TO THERE by Sue Fliess, art by Christiane Engel.
I have a confession--one of the joys of running this challenge is being able to feature writers I admire. Darshana is an up-and-coming picture book star. Take it away Darshana!
My favorite place to read a picture book is at the dining table during breakfast after everyone else has left for school and work. It's a little chunk of me time that I look forward too.
I don't remember my favorite place for reading picture books as a kid. When I read chapter books, I would camp out on the living room sofa.
I like your "me time" space. I could use a dose of that! Thanks Darshana.
WEEK 5: PBHOT62 Reading Spots

Day 27 & 28 PBHOT62

Someplace small. #amreading The Fire Station by Robert Munsch, art by Michael Martchenko. Someplace big. #amreading Carson Crosses Canada by Linda Bailey, art by Kass Reich.
Day 23 & 24 #PBHOT62
Once the rain settled down I enjoyed SECRET SEAHORSE by Stella Blackstone, art by Clare Beaton, sitting beside this handmade river bed. Then I went inside to warm up in front of the wood stove and think warm thoughts with BEACH DAY by Karen Roosa, art by Maggie Smith.
Day 22, week four of PBHOT62! (I can't believe how the time has flied). Today's lesson: if you going to read to puppies expect the book to be bitten, rolled on and pushed out of the way. #Amreading THE POKY LITTLE PUPPY by Janette Sebring Lowrey, art by Gustaf Tenggren.
If you want to see this week's reading spots: Week 4 of PBHOT62 Welcome Dev Petty.
My inner child screamed with delight the first time I heard about Dev's picture book I DON'T WANT TO BE A FROG (which is fantastic by the way!). Take it away Dev.
These days, my favorite place to read is on our deck- which is also my favorite place to write! Our yard is lush and sunny. I find that I go from spot to spot- lying on the deck, sitting at the table, swinging on the swing as I read a book.
My favorite place to read as a child was under our stereo table. It was right next to a heater vent, and since I had the smallest room in the house, my mom let me camp out there as often as I wished. I would set up a blanket over my knees and the vent, a pillow under my head, and create a warm tornado where I could read and shut out the world
Both reading spots sound amazing! Thank you Dev. CLAYMATES will be up for grabs at the end of this challenge for those you who stay tuned to reading all summer long! Week four reading list is below.
Dev Petty is the author CLAYMATES, I DON'T WANT TO BE A FROG, and other stories. Dev used to be an artist in film effects and she loves writing picture books because they're sort of like tiny, paper movies. She is a Berkeley native, devout Californian, and quality sandwich maker. Dev is represented by Jen Rofé of ABLA. www.devpetty.com
